My Groups First Idea for a Film Poster

Last Wednesday our group thought of some ideas for our poster. I then created a first idea bringing all our ideas into this poster.
This is what we have so far.

It's missing a tagline and production crew list but they will be added soon.

Astroboy Trailer

This film was adapted from the popular anime.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Buzz about this movie has been circulating for some time now. This film is adapted from the Prince of Persia videogame series. The videogame series was a trilogy so chances of future sequels are possible depending on how far into the events of the game this film goes, ticket sales and if it successful with the audience.

Jennifer's Body Trailer

I've seen this and while the trailer does a good job of hooking the audience, mainly male viewers, the full movie was not that interesting or scary.

Ninja Assassin Trailer

The action sequences throughout and the last scene in particular made this a movie i definately want to see.

Some new trailers

Adapted from The Picture of Dorian Gray this is a trailer that got my attention.

For ages was waiting for the sequel to Ong Bak,one of the best martial arts movies I'd seen in a long while, Tony Jaa's Muay Thai fight scenes were the topic of alot of conversations so i'm hoping this will be just as good. From the fight scenes shown in this trailer it looks like it wont disappoint.

The Proposal

I saw this movie over the summer and apart from a few laughs now and then it was a pretty mediocre film with a cliche plotline.

The video below is a lego version of The Dark Knight Trailer. Very well made, the maker has used animation skills to make a spoof trailer . I like it alot because of its comedy aspect but also because of how well it all flows. The mixture of the real movie dialogue and these scenes are used to great comical effect.
It looks proffesional and looks like it could be an actual trailer for an adaptation of the Lego Batman video game.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince UK Premiere

These pictures are from the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince premiere in Leister Square. They were taken by some friends who managed to get down there and stood in the rain for hours, so thanks guys. :)

2012 Teaser Trailer

2012 Trailer

Comparison of the 2012 Teaser Trailer and the Official Trailer

The teaser trailer for 2012 is significantly shorter than the official trailer. It uses one big budget scene to hook the audience and build hype months before the films release. The trailer, on the other hand, explains more parts of the story to keep audiences intrigued as the release date draws closer.
Another difference between the two trailers is the amount that’s shown. In the teaser only the one scene of the Tibetan monastery’s destruction is shown, it shows the viewer just a fragment of the effects the movie will include. The trailer is different however because it shows a lot of the big budget effects from the movie, including the one from the teaser. Big budget effects are something Roland Emmerich has become famous for with his previous summer blockbusters, Godzilla and The Day After Tomorrow.
Another difference between the trailers is the use of a montage in the official trailer. It helps to show more scenes in a limited space and with the use of an effective soundtrack, helps to create tension and suspense.
The number of shots in each is also different. The teaser uses only 5 or 6 shots which only use different angles of the same setting. The trailer uses a lot of different shots but also uses cuts to move between the different settings of the film. By doing this the audience see the destruction isn’t isolated to the monastery in the teaser but worldwide.
A number of scenes in the trailer centre around one family this shows that the movie will probably have a main story but also one or several sub-plots. This is something that was not shown in the teaser.

G.I Joe

G.I Joe Teaser Trailer Analysis

This trailer is made up of quick action shots, it begins with a low angle shot as a speeding car comes to a quick stop. A beautiful female character is introduced early as she steps out of the car shown in the previous shot. By doing this most male viewers will continue watching. The scene changes once again now the woman is walking into a large room followed closely by a servant or assisstant. Fading to black only for a second the picture returns showing submarines heading towards a secret underwater base. The scene changes to the interior to a medium shot show of a man, the villain, discussing his plans. His dialogue overthrows the non-diegetic sound which quietens but doesn't totally disappear. Green ooze spreads over the eiffel tower, as the mysterious ooze spreads special effects show the known landmark topple over. Using diffent camera angles we see it fall from different perspectives.
Fading to black again the screen then goes to to a clip of what looks like an army general figure sitting. 'FROM THE DIRCETOR OF THE MUMMY' then shows on another black screen this helps to promote the movie since The Mummy was successful, so audiences will think the same of this. After this only snippets of information are given from character dialogue and the random scenes that are shown which help to build up hype about the movie. G.I Joe is an old series so younger generations may not know, or may not have heard of it before. Alot has been done to help appeal to this audience from including action packed explosive scenes to casting well known young actors and actresses like Sienna Miller, Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans. The villain of the movie is easily defined by his dark clothing and darker tone of voice.

Dynamic music from the start matches the action scenes and helps to raise suspense.

Finally there is a fade into a black screen the soundtrack that has played throughout the trailer has now stopped. G.I JOE, is in bold and much larger than the sub-title 'RISE OF THE COBRA.' The title has a metallic effect this is probably linked to the special metal suits that feature in the movie. The date follows soon after with a crashing sound effect as it appears on screen.
